‘One Pearl’ of great price.

We can see  several passages in the Bible that refer to pearls, the most well known one is an allegory about the “pearly gates” of heaven and “casting pearls before swine”. But…..How can I forget that merchant man ;seeking beautiful pearls in ‘Matthew 13: 45-46’.

The portions  mentioned of Pearls in the Bible are:


Matthew 7:6.

“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”    Those days they knew well the value of pearls. So Jesus symbolically says:      don’t cast your pearls before swine. Here the pearl denotes the word of God.

Job 28:28

No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls; for the price of wisdom is far above rubies. Here Job describes the value of wisdom comparing with the       precious gems.

1 Thimothy 2:9

In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation,   not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly   clothing,
